This is a demonstration portrait I did while at an artists market last weekend. I didn't get any commissions, but I did enjoy the day, because I had such an interesting thing to draw. He has the most incredible eyes!!
This picture was completed while I was holidaying in Cairns with my family. I spent several evenings working on this drawing, and it is a gift to my sister Rhiannon and her new husband Darren for their wedding. A WIP will be up in my new WIP section soon.
This is a commission done for a colleague. I always kind of dread the idea of drawing animals, so much fur, but ultimately they have so much lovely expression in their faces that it's a pleasure to draw them! This one was no exception.
This is a couple of portraits I did for my little brother and his very lovely girlfriend Madeline. The photograph was taken the day before our sister's wedding, and they looked so relaxed and happy sharing a giggle over dinner at the Yungaburra Hotel. I had spent the day before I drew this working...
This was commissioned by a good friend as a gift to her husband for their first anniversary. Handsome couple, aren't they?
I created this drawing for my husband's parents while we were snowed in during our holiday in Holland in Feb 2005. Being snowed in is very productive, it seems :) Anyway this was fun to draw, and I'm really pleased with it. It now hangs above their stairs.
This is a commission I did for a colleague for christmas 2004.
This portrait was a breeze, it is by far the shortest and easiest I've ever done, and my husband maintains it's the best. I guess because I'm such a huge fan of Patrick Stewart and I have seen him on the screen so much, I feel that I know his face really well, so I think that is part of why this ca...
I wanted to do something as a gift for my parents on their 31st wedding anniversary, and what better than a portrait of their wedding day? I love my parents to bits and I loved drawing this for them. It was a challenge to keep it a secret from my mother, because she likes to check out my various g...
I went through a phase where I wanted to draw beautiful people, and after watching Labyrinth for the gazillionth time I decided to draw this. One of my best friends is a huge fan of hers, so she now hangs on his bedroom wall :)
This portrait was commissioned by a colleague for her first wedding anniversary - paper - which I think is a lovely idea for a paper gift. He unfortunately had to sell his beloved car, so she had this done for him to remember it. She originally wanted just the car, but I advised her to have him in...
This was done from the same book as the Elrond picture. For some reason David Wenham's likeness evaded me, but I think maybe this looks more like Faramir did to me in my head than in the movie :) I really like how this turned out in the end, the light is lovely.
These two handsome chaps are my brothers in law fooling around with the digital camera. My parents in law in Holland had this hanging on their fridge and I just had to draw it when I saw it there. We spent a week snowed in during our holiday, so this was a great way to pass the time.
This chubby little fellow is the nephew of my good friend Cassie. I originally wanted to draw him, as well as his handsome Thursday Islander father, but that idea was vetoed.. you gotta do what the client wants :) Still, I think he turned out very well. Cute little guy!
I am a big closet fan of this guy. Ok well not so closet :) I wanted to draw him not looking angry and I think I managed. This one took a while, one of his eyes just wouldn't do what I told it to!
This was one of the first portraits I did while I was still developing my style. She's so lovely, I couldn't not draw her.
This drawing was done in a dark bowling alley from a really tiny picture in a Lord of the Rings weapons and Armour book. That's a lot of chainmail....
This was a portrait done for a Dutch friend, of his parents in a very cold and glary place. This was definitely a challenge, but I loved drawing all those different fabrics and textures. I think this is probably the biggest portrait I've done, at nearly a1 size. I took it with me to Holland in Fe...
This picture was taken by my father especially for this portrait. I combined 2 photographs into this drawing in order to get the image I wanted. I have never drawn a poodle before, so he was a challenge, but a joy to draw because he's so sweet and you can see that in this picture :)
This portrait was a labour of love. It took a long while to complete and was the most fun and the one I obsessed over the most. I am a huge Bowie fan and after seeing him in concert in 2004, I just had to draw this. I still love this one the best. :)
I found this pic online and loved it so much that I emailed the site owner asking if I could draw it. They agreed and this is the result. I adore the way the light plays across her skin and the luminescent quality of her skin and hair.
Self explanatory, self portrait! This is my best angle.. no lie! Anyway this was fun and looks a little strange if you hold it upsidedown...the anatomy is a bit odd but still, it looks like me :)
This is my sister Rhiannon. I snapped the photo I used for this outside my last house, as she was in the middle of a conversation with my hubby. The title came about for 2 reasons, the light on her face is lovely, and she really is the light of my live and I love her to bits! This was a thankyou ...
This portrait was one of the first ones I did and I've since given it to Thomas's family. I really enjoyed drawing this, of course I think he's a pleasure to look at :D but I did take the photograph myself and I think it turned out very well.
